7. Hosting & Launch
Configuring the website hosting account
It is important to make sure that your website is hosted on the best possible server to ensure your business message is consistently being delivered to your prospects in the fastest time with the least amount of ‘down-time’. Many hosting companies lack the resources to ensure your website is monitored 24/7 and all data loads are being managed as effectively as possible.
That is why KDG have partnered with the best hosting companies in Australia to ensure our client’s receive the best possible hosting solutions for their websites. A KDG Developer will set up your hosting account based on the hosting package selected during your consultation. Your registered Domain Names will be pointed to the hosting server and any requested email accounts will be configured and instructions will be issued on how to set these up on your computer(s). Your website in now officially approved for Pre- Launch.
Launching the website live on the Internet
This is the final stage in which you are given the opportunity to review the completed site one last time before it is officially launched on the World Wide Web. Instead of just publishing your website and hoping that we did everything right, KDG will deploy the beta (test) version of your site in ‘Pre-Launch’ mode. This is essentially the exact version of your website as other people will see it but the index.asp file has been renamed so that the domain name becomes temporarily ‘inactive’.

Having the website hosted in ‘Pre-Launch’ mode has a number of
advantages, the most important being the ability for you and your team
to go over your website ‘with a fine-tooth comb’ and pick up any
mistakes that only you or your team could detect. This could be the
unique way you want your business name displayed, the way you want an Online Form
to work or any other peculiarities specific to your business that we
missed. Some developers would consider this level of testing and
proofing to be pedantic and verging on paranoid but at KDG we believe
that every website launched should be perfect from the word ‘Go’. Any
problems you or your team find during the Pre-Launch phase are
corrected immediately.
Once you are 100% satisfied that the website is ready for Official
Launch, we will ask you to finalise the balance payment for your
website. Once we receive the final balance our Accounts Team will
notify the Project Manager who will then authorise the website to be
published live on the Internet. This process can be done immediately or
if requested can be delayed if you would like to co-ordinate the
website launch with a public relations exercise such as a Launch Party
or Press Release. Your website is now officially live!
