5. Sections & Data
Create all the sections (pages) and sub-sections of the website
Now that the main website layout has been constructed and the KSM has been integrated, our Developers can construct the various requested Content Sections. These are constructed using the KSM’s “Manage Sections” module, allowing complete flexibility as far as positioning and navigation structure is concerned. Traditional website design methodologies have always required the navigation structure to be pre-determined and finalised before the navigation menu can be built. With the KSM’s flexible section management utilities those days are over.
At this point, your KDG Web Developer will construct the various Content Sections you requested during your consultation. This will include the Section Heading, Title Bar, Keywords and Description. The sections can be positioned either directly below/beside each other or can be positioned as sub-sections in a drop-down or fly-out menu.
Unlike other Web Designers that use JavaScript or Flash fly-out menus, the KSM
generates the fly-out menus using CSS (Cascading Style Sheet)
technology meaning it can be viewed by every type of browsers, even if
the user has JavaScript turned off or has not installed Flash. Based on
the structure of your Content Sections, the KSM will also automatically generate a clickable Sitemap to assist your customer’s find where they are on your site.
Enter all data into the various sections of the website
With the entire website constructed, including layout, KSM, navigation, content sections and any selected Web Options, the last phase of actual construction involves entering all the necessary data either provided by you or produced by our team. This will most likely include your website content (provided by you or prepared by our Copywriters), photos/images (provided by you or shot by our Photographers) and any other documents or files (eg. PDF’s) you would like included on your site. Information required for any of the Web Options setup during Stage 9 will also be entered during the Data Entry stage.
Before entering any written content, KDG Web Developers will proof
the copy to make sure that all the spelling and grammar is correct
before and after the content has been entered. All text will be
formatted using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to ensure it matches the
site design and maintains consistency when future modifications are
made using the KSM. Hyper links will be created where applicable and tested initially for ‘broken links’.
Any photos and images to be used on the site will be first
cropped/scaled and compressed to improve download efficiency. Although
extensive Quality Assurance (QA) testing is conducted during Stage 12,
KDG Web Developers are trained to constantly check the quality of their
work and pick-up obvious spelling, grammatical or hyperlink errors.
This is then double-checked by the KDG Project Manager before the site
proceeds to the next stage.
